DARKWOOD (DE)

DARKWOOD

The wilderness outside the cities has often been a place where man can rediscover himself, free of the mediation of the human world. Darkwood draws strength from these secret places, remembering their ancestors, the cycles of the year, and the great works of the Germanic peoples through romantic poetry, pagan nature mysticism, and the tragedies of the 20th century.

The veterans of German neofolk, now in their 25th year, make their first appearance in Lituania at this year’s Mėnuo Joudaragis and will present a cross-section of their eight studio albums to date, including tracks from their classics “Notwendfeuer” and “Weltenwende” as well as from their latest album “Twilight Garden”.

“Deep in the dark wood
Where the old Gods sleep
Deep in the forest
Where the ghosts weep
Leads a path to a dell Unknown, unfound
Deep in the forest
There’s a stone on the ground
Carved by men
Who died years ago
There’s a bind Rune – almost hidden
A curse for the foe”
