
Our 16th festival will offer a series of playful, (inter)active and creative activities for children. Everyone will have an opportunity to make a straw symbol, take part in traditional games, make a clay man, or paint.
FRIDAY
18.00 – Crafts Yard.
STRAW WORKS
Lithuanian and Latvian ornaments and symbols will be made from straw in the Hay Tent of the Crafts Yard starting Friday.
20.00 – Crafts Yard.
A NIGHT OF LATVIAN TALES AND SONGS
The girls from the modern folklore band Marga Muzika will sing a fairy-tale in Latvian and Lithuanian, which will tell about the ancient traditions and customs of the two nations.
SATRUDAY
9.00 – Film and Lecture Pavilion.
ANIMATION FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
The little festival-goers will wake up with merry cartoons. The programme will consist of selected animated films from Lithuania and Latvia.
10.30 – Games Yard.
PAINTING ON CANVAS AND ART WORKSHOPS
Saturday morning will welcome children at the huge canvas where everyone will be able to draw and colour their handprints, Latvian and Lithuanian symbols, and other images.
12.00 – Games Yard.
INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES
Linas Zubė family theatre Lino Lėlės will demonstrate walking on stilts and organise games on the grass. The actor and puppeteer Linas Zubė and his family will offer acting lessons for children and teach the audience theatrical and ancient games.
BALTIC ROCKS
The lawn of the island will be decorated with rocks from the beaches of the Baltic Sea. Children will paint them and assemble them into a puzzle reflecting the colours, emotions and playfulness of the Festival. The smartest and the most creative children will be awarded.
14.00 – Crafts Yard.
CLAY WORKSHOP
This year, the Festival will be visited by Daugavpils Clay Art Centre that will teach children to make clay animals, pottery and jewellery. The young artists will use various methods to create a souvenir to bring home.
16.00 – Crafts Yard.
STRAW WORKS
The Hay Tent will open again on the Saturday afternoon. Ornaments and symbols representing the brotherhood between Lithuanians and Latvians will be made to decorate the Crafts Yard.
21.00 – Film and Lecture Pavilion.
PLAY "THE WOLF AND THE LITTLE GOATS”
"The Wolf and the Little Goats" is a musical, plastic, poetic and charismatic play by Linas Zubė family theatre Lino Lėlės.
SUNDAY
10.00 – Crafts Yard.
EXHIBITION "MJR ARTWORK"
On Sunday everyone will bring their clay and straw figurines to the Crafts Yard for a joint exhibition. The most creative works will be awarded and everyone will be treated to candy. Clay, straw and sash workshops will continue after the exhibition.
11.00 – Games Yard.
SOAP BUBBLE DANCES WITH WIND-CATCHERS
Everyone is welcome take part in the soap bubble party!
12.00 – Games Yard.
ARCHERY COMPETITION
On Sunday morning, the club "Strėlė" will organise an archery competition for the little ones. Children will test their marksmanship skills in the Great Lawn, while the best ones will compete for the special arrow awarded by the club!
